感想

何度観てもおもしろい。テレビ朝日版吹き替え版。

ミック・ジャクソン監督『ボルケーノ』(1997)と同時期に製作・公開された。いわゆるツインフィルムズ。

悲壮感があまりない。

ハリーの上司ポールは噴火はしないと主張していたが、噴火が起きたら自分の過ちを認め謝れる。

日本は地震大国で、1995年1月17日の阪神・淡路大震災に建設された建物は大地震でも耐えられるようになっている。だから地震が起きても、建物が崩れて下敷きになる、生き埋めになる、亡くなる被害者が減っている。

避難説明をしている体育館で地震が起き、人々がパニックになる。倒れて他の人に踏まれている男性をハリーが群衆に飛び込んで助け起こす。

強酸性の湖を渡るとき、子どもたちを落ち着かせるために英語の童謡 "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" を歌う。
