感想

アニメーション映画は子象のダンボが主人公だったが、実写映画では人間を主人公にしてオリジナルストーリーを構成している。動物はしゃべらない。

スティーヴン・ヘレク監督、ジョン・ヒューズ脚本・製作『101』(1996)も同じアプローチだった。人間が主人公で、『101匹わんちゃん』(1961)と異なり動物はしゃべらない。

101 (字幕版)

ハリウッドというか西洋の人は、実写映像では動物や架空のキャラクターはフォトリアルにしなければならない、という固定観念にとらわれている。だから可愛くない、または気持ち悪いデザインにする。

ロブ・レターマン監督『名探偵ピカチュウ』(2019)は、ピカチュウやコダックは可愛かったが、一部のポケモンは気持ち悪いデザインだった。

ジェフ・ファウラー監督『ソニック・ザ・ムービー』(2020)は、予告編でソニックのデザインを批判され、デザインから作り直した結果大ヒット。第4作が2027年3月に、スピンオフ映画が2028年12月に公開予定。
