リチャード・D・ザナックがプロデューサー。アメリカの名プロデューサー。ロバート・ワイズ監督・製作『サウンド・オブ・ミュージック』(1965)、スティーヴン・スピルバーグ監督『ジョーズ』(1975)、ブルース・ベレスフォード監督『ドライビング Miss デイジー』(1989)など半世紀以上にわたって映画を製作した。
スティーヴン・スピルバーグ監督は Richard Darryl Zanuck について "one of the most honorable and loyal men of our profession" と評した。
リチャード・D・ザナックの父ダリル・F・ザナックは20世紀ピクチャーズの設立者の1人。20世紀ピクチャーズはのちにフォックス・フィルムを買収して20世紀フォックスになった。

何度観てもおもしろい。もともと小説を読んでいたから、映画館で観て違いを楽しめた。

何度観てもおもしろい 風刺とブラックユーモア 今作独自のアレンジも良い
ダニー・エルフマンの音楽
名作映画のオマージュとパロディ
劇場公開版も日本テレビ版もどちらも違う良さがある。
ハリウッドでは、子役の吹き替えには子どもを使うべきだという思想がある。だから劇場公開版はアメリカ本社の指示で子役が吹き替えた。結果、あまり上手いとは言えない。テレビ局独自の吹き替えには一般的にそのような命令はないので、子役の吹き替えにもプロの声優を起用した。
映画
メル・スチュアート監督、ロアルド・ダールandデヴィッド・セルツァー脚本『夢のチョコレート工場』(1971)として、ミュージカル・ファンタジー映画になった。ジーン・ワイルダーがウィリー・ウォンカを演じた。
ポール・キング監督・脚本(共同)、デヴィッド・へイマン製作『ウォンカ』("Wonka")(2023)がアメリカで2023年3月17日に公開予定。ティモシー・シャラメが若き日のウィリー・ウォンカを演じる。
